Hayride through Thoresby Park.

17th June: Finished an acrylic painting, “Thoresby Fields Forever”, based on a sketch I made in January of last year. I really like the sketch, not so much the painting. I can never get the same feeling a second time around.

19th June. Thoresby Hayride: I was a little disappointed the hay ride route didn’t go past Nelson’s Pyramid as it has in the past, but thrilled to see my old home The Woodyard, and delighted to spend some time afterwards in the Village Hall and bar, where I was surprised to see an old primary school photo with me in it on the wall.

It being impossible to hold a sketchbook steady on a trailor I made some sketches from the video I shot.

Drawing August #drawingaugust

My entire journal for August comprised sketches of various locations in Nottingham. This was part of the Twitter collaboration, #drawingaugust, and raised my profile and Follower statistic considerably. The music I chose for this month's video was my cover of “Don't Get Around Much Any More”.

You can watch my journal for August on THIS LINK.

Lights, camera, action.

I have no idea what time it is. I didn’t know whether I was meant to put the clocks forward or back, and that was a couple of days ago. But I do want to keep some track of Time here.

March has seemed rather quiet, especially for a month renowned for its characteristic winds of change, like the one’s which tore down my fences last year. But I have been active creatively. In fact, almost non-stop.

March evenings have found me in my studio, firmly attached to my glue gun (often quite literally), constructing sets for the next round of promo videos I make for a musician friend. It’s a refreshing challenge, responding to someone else’s creation. I can construct the sets quickly, like “action painting”, then modify them whilst checking the composition, getting everything ready before the performer enters the shot.
